Illinois Center for Autism
A special place...for special people.
Children's Special Day School Program -
Satellite Classrooms

In 1995, the Illinois Center for Autism started developing partnerships with local educational
agencies to develop less restrictive placement options for individuals with autism
.  As a result
of these partnerships, seven innovative satellite classrooms have been created in various
public schools within the ICA service area.

The goal of these classrooms is to provide a bridge from ICA to public schools and to
facilitate the goal of students being able to return to their home schools.  Students in the
satellite classrooms are integrated with non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible
and are often included in regular educational settings with support provided as necessary.
