Illinois Center for Autism
A special place...for special people.
Children's Special Day School Program - Placement Protocol
Please be aware that this protocol will be followed when considering placement in our program.
1.
District contacts Illinois Center for Autism concerning student and district needs, obtains
release for ICA to  observe student and schedules an appointment for an ICA
representative to observe the student in the student’s current classroom.
2.
The Illinois Center for Autism will contact the district person concerning the visit and
discuss what further assistance is needed by ICA.
3.
If it is determined that the Illinois Center for Autism will be considered for placement, the
parents will be asked to contact ICA and schedule a time to tour and bring the student to
meet with ICA staff.  This may be done in one or two  visits.
If there is no available space, the student will be placed on a waiting list at this point.  Step
4 will be resumed when a space becomes available.
4.
If the district, parents and Illinois Center for Autism staff feel ICA is an appropriate
placement option,a staffing will be scheduled and held at ICA.
5.
The start date for the student will be minimally 10 school days after the date of the intake
staffing should the team decide that ICA is the best placement for the student.
