Where is ICA located?

The Illinois Center for Autism is located in Fairview Heights, Illinois, which is
approximately 15 miles from downtown St. Louis, MO.

Who is eligible to attend ICA Children’s Special Day School?

ICA serves students ages 3-21 who have been diagnosed as having autism, pervasive development
disorder, Aspereger’s Syndrome, and/or students who exhibit compatible characteristics of autism,
such as severe communications disorders, severe behavioral disorders, uneven intellectual skills, and
socially inappropriate behaviors.

How do students get placed in ICA Children’s Special Day School?

The IEP team determines if placement at ICA Children’s Special Day School is appropriate.  The
student’s local school district must contact ICA about the possible placement of a student, so please
contact your local school district concerning placement.

What are the costs to the family for students to attend ICA Children’s Special Day School?

Students attend ICA Children’s Special Day School at no cost to the family.  

Where does ICA Children’s Special Day School receive funding?

ICA Children’s Special Day School receives funding from local educational agencies, local mental
health boards, Illinois Department of Human Services, St. Louis Variety, United Way of Greater St.
Louis, United Way Partnership, Tri-Cities United Way and Private Donations.

Are residential services available?

No

Are respite services available?

ICA Children’s Special Day School does not provide respite services, but can refer individuals to
agencies which do provide these services.

Is diagnostic testing available?

No.
